Paris Louvre – April 24, Sunday – Afternoon

To get to the Louvre we had to take two different Metro trains and it turned out to be very easy, once you figured out the system. We got off at the right stop and made our way to the museum. We had reserved an audio box to take with us, but had so much trouble with it, we took the guide sheets and forged ahead.

My first goal was to see the Mona Lisa. This we thought would be easy with this wonderful sign.

However, as usual we passed the room it was in and then had to come back. Here is some of the art work that we saw on the way to Miss Lisa.

Then we got to the Mona Lisa. Had to do a little pushing to get close.

Our next quest was to see Venus de Milo. But, now we understood how to read the map and went right there. Here is some of the art work from this journey.

And here she is.

Things are going well so I have one more piece of the museum I would like to see, the Egyptian Sarcophagus. So on the way there, we took these pictures.

And we got there with no wrong turns.

Now we thought we were done, but alas finding the Sortie (exit) was not that easy. So on the way we ended up in the Louis XIV wing. Here are a couple of pictures.

Here are some pictures of the inside the Louvre, but not where the art is displayed. We did make it back here.

Here are a few pictures on the grounds. There are gardens outside of the Louvre These are where the Tuileries Palace stood before it burned down in 1871. The entrance portal is all that remains today of this magnificent palace. It is called the Arch of Triumph at the Carrousel as the palace was called the Place du Carrousel.

And here we are in the subway and back at our home station.

Long day, will try and find some dinner. Tomorrow we have tickets to the Eiffel Tower at 11 AM and then will see what strikes our fancy. We have walked so many steps and sleep really well at night. So, well we have not seen the Eiffel Tower at night, but there are still two nights left.
